How to deal with  "Feel Bad"  

   Thoughts, Emotions, and Feelings:     

When you find yourself focused on

thoughts about what brings you pain  or on    
thoughts about not having what brings you joy,  or on 
thoughts about what's going on in the insane world around you, or on  
thoughts about hurting others,

you'll find yourself feeling bad.    There are dozens of words to describe where your mind is --  fear  --  anger --  anxiety --  grief -- sorrow --  et cetera.   

You'll also probably notice that at those times when you feel bad:   1)  you're in a slouched posture,  2) your breathing is shallow,  3)  your mind is focused in  the future or in the past,  4)  you feel lethargic / tired / weary.   

Breaking the Cycle:   When you find yourself is this state of mine, the immediate goal is to shift the focus of your attention away from these thoughts.   Start by bringing your attention back to "here and now."    Shift your posture.   Sit or stand with your spine straight.  (Be comfortable, but more erect.)    Breathe consciously; breathe more deeply;  breathe more slowly.   Focus on your body.   Imagine yourself inside your body.   What does it feel like to be in your body?
